important thing to note here is dr oz cites a current american replacement rate of 1.5, which is not true. the american replacement level in 2025 was 1.79. interestingly, the white replacement rate is in fact at 1.5 though

Or maybe the slightly softer version “I don’t care that it happened and don’t believe anything he says about it.” So, like, a strong partisan signal, whether they literally believe that or not. (Like the Republicans who told the pollster Trump could beat them in a fight, basically!)

Creating procedurally unrealistic demands and then attacking D politicians for not meeting them is a way to demoralize voters and encouraging them not to vote. Trump likes that.

I believe that the assassination attempts on Trump have been real and not some planned conspiracy but if a pollster asked me about it i would absolutely say I'm sure they're fake because fuck Trump. I'm picking the "fuck Trump" response to every single question

Absolutely shameful from Rep. Kiggans. They aren't even trying to hide it anymore. Trump’s MAGA movement is fueled by racism, fixated on denigrating Black leaders, and focused on attacking Black voting rights. We see it and we won’t back down.

Judging by the merits of his proposal, Graham Platner is helping Big Oil commit climate arson. America's gas and diesel taxes are already an order of magnitude smaller than every single developed country not named Russia or Canada. That's why there is no urgency in this country to decarbonize!

gas taxes are already insufficient to pay for current transportation infrastructure. as EVs take over, we'll need to find a replacement revenue source for roads and transit anyway. the reality is that we are dramatically under-taxed relative to most Western democracies.

Maybe they’re doing this shit bc they think they’re untouchable. But I suspect SCOTUS is scared, like they know they must do whatever is necessary to protect Trump & the GOP, bc they know they’ve overreached & are in danger of losing much of their illegitimate power to suppress democracy

SCOTUS invoked the Purcell Principle, which is that courts shouldn't make changes that affect an election too close to an election, to block a decision that would have required Texas to change its maps *last December* but now since it advantages Rs it's fine to change maps after voting has started

This is absolutely outrageous. SCOTUS reinstated Texas gerrymander 15 weeks before primary because they claimed it was too close to election to block it but now allowing Alabama to gerrymander one week before primary after trial court found map was intentionally discriminatory against Black voters

Next year, Virginia Democrats will replace the justice who wrote last week's 4–3 SCOVA decision blocking the state's duly enacted congressional map. The new majority can then follow the example set by the North Carolina Supreme Court's Republicans—reverse the previous decision and approve the map.

In 2022, the North Carolina Supreme Court's Democratic majority banned partisan gerrymandering under the state constitution. Republicans then won control of the court and spontaneously reversed that decision, re-legalizing gerrymandering. I suspect this is the model Virginia Democrats will follow.
