Absolutely horrified by the attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego, which includes a mosque and a school. My prayers are with the community there. Places of worship should be sanctuaries, for Muslims and people of all faiths. We must stand against Islamophobia and hatred.

I was honored to attend the commissioning of the USS Cleveland. The ship’s motto is “Forge a Legacy” – a tribute to our industrial strength. At the ceremony, I spoke about what “Cleveland” means to us -  the pride we have in our city, our spirit, and our values.
