I think part of this is that too many people, both his foes and allies, misunderstood the tattoo story for being facially about anti-Semitism, when it was more early evidence of his plastic relationship to the truth.

the media coverage of Platner has largely been extremely favorable to him/gullible about his claims and that his multiple red flags are finally becoming a proper story is not a sign that they're biased against him, but that they're doing reporting.

The thing about Platner is that I swore we were all passing around some anecdote a little while back about how you can't allow even one nazi, even a well-spoken one with good vibes, into your bar. I have a very clear memory of this. We all agreed with it and found it trenchant and apt.
