Bike lanes are impractical bc you can’t use them if you’re elderly and need to go to Costco to stock up on groceries and also on the same trip go to Menards to refill your propane tank.

“We can all help prevent accidents when we pay attention, slow down and follow the rules of the road.” No, we must redesign our roads so we aren't relying on everyone internalizing this. Too many car drivers can be distracted, hate driving slow and ignore the safety signs.

The city recently put up some "do not park in bike lane" signs near an apartment & park on my evening commute bike lanes. I'd say the signs "work" except that cars just park in the bike lane as soon as those signs end. I had bike into the car lane to avoid two today.

My roommate forgot her lights so I lent her my spare (headband), and I biked behind her as her tail lights. The darkness got us, but we made it back safe.

Don't buy the bullshit. Shutting down how people get to work is an attack on the poor. Plus, it will only make street traffic worse for everyone. Once an hour means missed connections. So either you're able bodied enough to bike or walk, it takes multiple hours to go somewhere, or you buy a car.

Saw a van parked on an overpass advertising to traffic below. There's also a car dealership on El Camino, that uses on-road parking to store their cars. This space would better be used to provide wide bike lanes, or at the very least, be paid-parking to fund safe infrastructure improvements.
