A speeding jeep ran the stop sign in the middle lane at 11th and Island today while my husband and I were in the crosswalk (other two cars were stopped waiting for us to cross.) I would be dead if my husband and the other drivers hadn’t yelled at me to stop. I don’t think the driver even noticed.

This is insane policy. We already force car dependency on all ages just for basic mobility, and now we're removing the few safety checks we have left. Keeping people with decreased physical abilities behind the wheel of multi-ton vehicles is a recipe for disaster. People will die because of this.

If you drove by this interchange when it was under construction, you saw the thousands of trees cut for it. I don’t recall any of Seattle’s tree people fighting against it. Instead, by opposing density, they’re fueling the sprawl that leads to these freeway projects.

While our local leaders are having a moral panic over ebikes, cars remain the main source of danger by orders of magnitude. One huge way they put us in danger, including endangering kids on ebikes is by obstructing bike lanes. I've personally reported over 1000 bike lane obstructions.

Many elderly and disabled people depend on our bike lane network, and yet are somehow completely invisible to and neglected by society.

We had to relocate a bus stop near my house because SUVs drove onto the sidewalk and plowed through the store 3x. The last time, a SUV pushed a bus stop bench into the store, pinning down both a woman on the bench and a woman in the store

It's hilarious how much more efficient ebikes are, compared to cars, in terms of energy use. Between those two, that's at most 2 horsepower combined. Most likely less.

There was some big account on here, nyt person or someone, saying she's more afraid of being hit on the sidewalk by a bike than a car because cars don't drive on the sidewalk. Maybe look up the statistics on that. We've had many more pedestrian fatalities waiting for a bus or standing in a store.
