There's a renewed push to restore parking on Convoy St. If you have a second please email: Council President Pro Tem Kent Lee
[email protected]
And tell him to implement parking protected bike lanes. There is more than enough room for both on Convoy.

the folks at bikeloud did so much to fight for bus lanes on 82nd, on a project that technically didn’t even include any bike infrastructure. love to see solidarity between transportation groups in this city ❤️

One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strøget in Copenhagen, was filled with cars until a 2 year pedestrianization pilot project in 1962. The opposition argued “no cars means no business,” but the street has been a massive retail success, the city’s busiest shopping street.

For those supposedly boycotting Balboa Park over parking fees, that was the least successful boycott ever today. It was indistinguishable from a typical summer Saturday with no parking fees. But TACO Todd already relented effective in March.

I’ll say it again. There IS such a thing as “vertical sprawl.” It’s not tall buildings. It’s tall buildings IN CAR-DEPENDENT SPRAWL. If you do tall buildings in walkable, multi-modal urbanism, then it’s VERTICAL URBANISM, not vertical sprawl. Suggesting otherwise means you don’t understand sprawl.

Why did I take my bike to get groceries today? * I save gas money * I lessen wear and tear on my car * I get exercise * If you don't like car culture, and so much of our infrastructure in the U.S. is car-centric, this is a small act of resistance

A cyclist was killed yesterday a few blocks from my house. Bike lanes are a culture war thing now that cuts across parties. The Trump-Bowser side of that war removes bike lanes even if it doesn't create parking or improve traffic. They think no one should bike, cyclists getting hurt is the goal.

This judge is a menace. Why is age an excuse, as if her own age was a surprise to the driver? If she had remorse beyond crocodile tears why did she hide her money from her victims' family? If she was so sad about her husband dying in a crash why didn't she avoid driving dangerously?

It's been a ~ decade since Trump came on the political scene but the whole time I've been shocked by the degree to which "progressive Democrats" in blue cities have had identical land use, housing, and street safety/transportation/climate policies as Trump. Maybe they should stop doing that?

If pulling out protected bike lanes is now MAGA Trumpist, does that mean progressive city councils that claim to oppose Trump have to stop pulling out protected bike lanes? Asking for a whole bunch of people on bikes in blue/Democratically-governed cities who don't want to be killed by drivers.
