Reported the overgrown branches to
@cityofsaintpaul.bsky.social
and waited a month for them to do anything about it, finally just cut them back myself to stop getting hit in the face with branches. Hit up the whole downtown Capital City Bikeway and cleared encroaching branches.

I would love to see a count like this for Bryant Ave S and 40th St. There are SO many people biking during commute times, including LOTS of cargo bikes w/ kid passengers and some very cool upper elem/middle schoolers biking alone to/from school.

Let me be clear. As someone who has been professionally involved with the biodefense / biosecurity sector for nearly 20 years, and has worked on biological risk analysis for Covid-19 since early 2020, reducing one's risk of being infected is not health anxiety. It's just smart.

Among many many other problems with this, denying service to anyone who is not a driver is ableist. We're sure this is not the intention or desire of this bank but is yet another example of the ways that autonormativity harms our communities.

Did you know? People can & do ride bikes to medical appointments (when it’s safe to do so, when density makes the trips reasonable in length & when there’s places to park bikes). Forced car dependency isn’t great for any of us.

It’s basic. When a head of state punishes comedians for making fun of him, it’s authoritarianism and severely undermines democracy. The leader fears public criticism and is willing to use state power to silence dissent, eroding key democratic principles such as freedom of speech.

If every single bicycle in the world disappeared cars would be just as slow as they are today. If every single car in the world disappeared bikes would be multiple magnitudes faster than they are today. A 40 minute urban bike ride would go down to 20 minutes.
