What got me first interested in Caves of Qud was its original Early Access trailer from over a decade ago. The game got a lot prettier and more readable over time (the UI overhaul was great), but just LISTEN. Let your brain chew on those rich and flavorsome words. They were cooking from day one.

yah you’re totally right. all gender is performance regardless of whether you’re cis or trans. people also often tend to get dysphoria from being forced to perform a gender other than their own, so it’s especially noticeable & acute in trans folx since there is more obvious dissonance.

it took like an hour for the official caves of qud discord to go from celebrating the game’s hugo win to debating whether the character mutation that lets you spontaneously summon a bunch of plants to fight on your behalf is good or not… which to me is its own endorsement of why this game is special
