Here’s the hard truth: Nashville will never be a Vision Zero city if we solely ascribe to “national standards and practices.” We wont get there through cautious incrementalism. Nashville could be a leader of Vision Zero, but it’s quite clear that we lack the leadership and gumption to do just that.

Seeing how strong and confident our 7-year-old has become on her bike in a short period of time has really re-emphasized how inaccessible our city is. Age is not a barrier. Weather is not a barrier. Hills are not a barrier. The only thing holding her back is our lack of safe infrastructure.
