I biked home through a bit of the storm last night and opted for the sidewalk on Charlotte to be more direct. At one point I had to go into the street bc a truck was parked on the sidewalk. It was crazy gusty and spitting rain but that truck still pissed me off more than the weather conditions.

The worst part of any bike ride is cars.

5,000 miles in 3.5 years. This $600 e-bike changed my life. With a brake overhaul and a new chain (still original btw) we’ll see if it can make it another 5,000!

Church street unironically is one of the best streets downtown to try this. You could easily shift vehicular traffic elsewhere

Remember when TDOT insisted that the Broadway bridge have 7 lanes and refused to put in bike lanes? This is what motor vehicle traffic looks like at rush hour, while scooter riders squeeze around the constant stream of people walking on the crowded sidewalks. What a waste.

This data point needs to be front of mind for every city planner, engineer, and CM For every vocal opponent of bike lanes, there is a strong supporter. The other half of Nashvillians are conditional supporters that will buy-in when we demonstrate all the great benefits of bike lanes

The March 2026 Vanderbilt Poll, which gauges resident sentiment on local issues, asked whether Nashvillians supported adding new bike lanes. The poll showed a strong base of support — and a potential to grow support by sharing the benefits of bike lanes.

Hop on the 55 on any given day at shift change downtown and you will see the Nashvillians that make downtown run. Deprioritizing real transit solutions in favor of Lexus Lanes and Tesla Tunnels is another classic case of the state favoring tourisrs over the Nashvillians that keep the engine running.

Never forget, for many years Uber insisted it would reduce traffic in cities. Instead, Uber drivers cruise without passengers 40% of the time. Uber & Lyft no longer claim they reduce traffic. They now admit they increase congestion. Now boosters lie about driverless cars. Don’t believe them either.

The Twin Cities lacking an actual bikeshare is maybe the single biggest oversight by the best bike metro in America. It's solvable and would pay for itself many times over.

Build protected bike lane infrastructure and treat your bike share system as an extension of that. Well said.

Ah yes spring in Nashville. My favorite time of year where Centennial Park, one of Nashville’s most iconic green spaces, turns into a giant parking lot.

The saying "There's no bad weather, only bad clothing" ignores one major thing, which is bad infrastructure. A great raincoat doesn't matter if you have to cross a 6-lane stroad. Poor urban design and massive distances remove the choice to dress for the weather, forcing us into cars.

Ever been riding with someone new to biking or from out of town and you feel it's your personal responsibility to protect them and keep them safe the entire ride? Would be really great if our cities felt like this.

Oh now we’re closing tickets bc a bike lane is scheduled to be swept “around” 2 weeks from now? I’m sure all of our bike lanes are “scheduled” to be swept but do they actually get cleaned? I’m not so sure. I will never understand why Hub closes tickets before completing the work required.
