This has stuck with me since the first time I heard @nondriver.bsky.social say it. Every time I see footage of a bike bus I both ride the joy of seeing so many happy kids AND am cognizant of the affluence of the group overall. The measure of success is not needing bike busses to get kids riding.

A dog lives in the unit above my apartment. When their owners come home they start happy tippytapping around on the floor above me. So often the idea of being aware of neighbors is spoken of negatively. Getting to experience 3rdhand dog-joy daily is absolutely a positive thing in my life.

Successful transit networks + transit adoption are made or broken by how positive or negative the user experience is. That UX includes how people get to & from the transit stops. Inaction in the face of an open drug market for months followed by completely blocking it off is not a solution.
