Hilarious that NDOT gives 4 days notice that drivers won’t be able to park on one street for two hours on one day, but we’ll close the only halfway decent bike path through downtown with zero notice or signage at the drop of a hat

This has more detail about the Vanderbilt expansion... There's some interesting stuff in here, including a cycle track on the impacted section of 31st?? But it ends short of West End so it won't connect to the extant bike lanes north of there 😭 Would rather see a road diet on 31st/Blakemore

Not every Critical Mass ride can draw the attendance of Tour De Nash. Yet, you can see over 1,000 cyclists enjoy that every spring. And I definitely saw

On the contrary. They collaborated with the downtown council member, NDOT, SVP, wealthy homeowners, AND a Waymo lobbyist to remove a mobility lane that the full council voted to install

KVB is great if you ride on the sidewalk. It nicely connects to the Ascend/Peabody greenway. But the bike lanes still has the highest level of traffic stress (4) due to the posted speed limit (40). This is one area I'd prefer the bike lane to be moved onto a separated zone on the pedestrian level

Not in My Bike Lane (NIMBLers) are people protesting anything in a bike lane that's not supposed to be there: parked cars, car doors, road debris, detritus, and bad vibes. We hope you join us in this fight.

This is so awful. The person who was killed biking yesterday in Chicago was bike parking manager Riley O'Neil. If you've ever biked around Chicago you've probably noticed how incredibly well the city handles bike parking. That doesn't happen without dedicated public servants like O'Neil.

There is a plan to build a concrete protected cycle track(two-way bike lane) right here. If anything, the concrete curb design should be beefed up to include Jersey Barrier-like protection here & maybe other areas in the design. Also we should get off our keisters as a city & build the thing!

According to this story, Nashville is waiting on $9.3 million in federal funding to complete the East Nashville Spokes project. That is less than one typical month of CHYM revenue collection...

Since the East Nashville Spokes project started in 2020, 3 dozen pedestrians and cyclists have been struck by cars along the project's corridors. An untold more have been struck and gone unreported. The project is currently stalled while the city tries to sue the feds for $9.3M in awarded funding.

Just made me think of my first long group ride in way back in 2010. 65 miles out to Cheatham County and back starting and finishing right there at Eastside Cycles. I hate to be that guy, but it was a LOT cooler back then with the bike shop, 3 Crow...and Margot.

Discussion: What's the difference between a Greenway and a Shared Use path? Nashville has a number of "off-street bike lanes", like on Division St between 8th Ave S & Lafayette, 28th/31st Ave Connector, Madison Station Blvd, etc. To me, these are just shared use paths.... aka greenways?

Richmond, VA has a pedestrian bridge suspended underneath a highway over the James River (1st pic).

Why can't Nashville do the same over the Stones River underneath I-40 (2nd pic)? Aside from lack of political will & funding, are there engineering constraints?

Two updates! 1) Street Names are back on our basemap. You can still select "Hide Labels" to reduce clutter if you prefer. Pro-tip: signing up as a user lets you set a default map styling! 2) We've increased the max zoom on the map, to help pinpointing bike racks & water fountains, etc. easier
