Traffic Calming: I have been waiting years for NDOT to deploy a design like this. No speed cushions*, just flex posts on all 3 lines. It creates a visual (& physical) pinch point which slows down drivers. It was working when I took these photos. *Speed cushions are also deployed nearby.

Two personal anecdotal examples of behavior change due to physical street design changes. 1) Speed cushions on a neighborhood street in Inglewood. I used to drive home on this neighborhood street & now take Gallatin when I visit my local bagel joint

The most heartwarming part of all this drama is that there aren’t enough NIMBYs in his district for a recall effort - they couldn’t even get the signatures for it so the real estate agent from Franklin who led the group had to scrape up anti-housing advocates from other districts to make a fuss.

I’m hopeful that the toothlessness of this effort might assuage the concerns of other councilmembers who might be on the fence about their districts’ reaction to future county-wide efforts to allow more housing.

Councilmember does the right thing, increasing opportunities for housing. Entitled homeowners don't get their way & proceed to throw a months-long tantrum.
