These are the nurses at Des Moines hospitals including Iowa Methodist, where they cared for my husband when he had cancer. The nurses made an awful time so much better and they deserve fair treatment. Unitypoint has done crazy levels of union busting to them.

Millcreek School District echoes Des Moines Public Schools in commenting that no immigration issues arose in naming Ian Roberts superintendent.

I wrote about how outrageous the treatment of Dr. Roberts and the community has been, no matter what the facts turn out to be.

Des Moines School Board just put Dr. Ian Roberts on unpaid leave after Iowa Board of Educational Examiners revoked his administrator's license. DHS provided documents today indicating Roberts isn't authorized to work in US. School board has given his attorney until noon tomorrow to give other info.

I am still bothered that ICE chose to make a show of police action instead of just telling the Des Moines Schools that Dr. Roberts was not eligible to work (if that is true). Wastes money and endangers people.

ICE in particular has completely blown up its credibility - in legal terms, its entitlement to a presumption of regularity - and so taking their claims on face value is a grievous error.

Immediately before this arrest at the Broadview ICE facility, I recorded agents talking about a guy who had told them “go kill yourselves.” They pointed towards this guy who was standing on the sidewalk and not interfering, and rushed over to arrest him.

I can’t tell you how much good could be done right now by average citizens socially cold-shouldering anyone tangentially working for ICE.

School board voted to place Dr. Ian Roberts on paid administrative leave, then adjourned. Board members read a statement repeating some of what they said yesterday: He passed a background check & submitted I-9 documentation. They were never told about any immigration problems or order of removal.

Today school board president Jackie Norris said, "No one here was aware of any citizenship or immigration issues that Dr. Roberts may have been facing." "Everything the district has on file indicates that Dr. Roberts affirmed that he was a citizen who was eligible to work in the school district."

A man was just chased and arrested outside of the Broadview ICE facility in Chicago. When legal observers from the National Lawyers Guild asked why, an agent threatened to arrest them too.

ICE chased down the school superintendent for allegedly overstating his visa, but odd that his employers in 3 states never caught that 🤔 Dr. Roberts led the Des Moines school district since 2023. He previously worked as a teacher in New York & Maryland and was an Olympic athlete 🎁 @nytimes.com

As a school SLP, I’ve worked with many many kids on the autism spectrum. They are great kids with boundless enthusiasm, high honesty, caring, and intelligence. It’s not some rare scary abstraction, it’s our kids in our community. The arrogant idiots running our government should shut the hell up.
