Reminder today for my fellow Christians: Jesus warned about wealth more than He did any other subject. The problem isn’t building wealth. The problem is worshipping wealth. I will never grovel to a few far-right billionaires. Let’s build an economy that works for everyone.

Career politicians like @RepTomBarrett caused this mess—they’re not going to get us out of it. Congress should do all it can to avoid a shutdown. But some things—from health care for families to the Constitution itself—are just too important to give up on.

Emily and I cancelled our @DisneyPlus @ABC subscription. More candidates, officeholders, and public figures should too. It’s a small step—but freedom is more often lost in small steps than big sweeps. Free speech is a right we all have—or none of us will.

I’ve experienced my share of political threats and harassment.  Charlie Kirk’s death was horrific. But using it to threaten other Americans is disgusting and dangerous.  Anyone doing it––including the Vice President––is sowing more division and distrust in this country.

My kids graduated from or are still in Ingham County public schools here in the 7th Congressional District. As a candidate for the district, as a man who has fought relentlessly for public schools and—most of all as a dad—enough is enough. Pass an MI budget. Fund our schools.

Within a week of new violence, I want to remember—as I always do—Leslie, Charlie, Dana and Zoe, murdered 24 years ago today on September 11. They were a family, on the Pentagon plane. Leslie was a mentor to me. I was an usher at their funeral. May the Lord bless them.

What happened to Charlie Kirk today is vile and reprehensible. As an educator at a school that experienced campus violence just two years ago, I am sickened, and praying, for Charlie, his family, and everyone who was with him at Utah Valley University today.
