Don’t let the internet fool you. I was at a protest for trans kids yesterday an HOUR south of Seattle, and it was HUGE. And there was a cacophony of drivers beeping in support. I could not believe it. Because I spend too much online and figured it’s a lost cause.

i have to say, as a trans journalist who has covered the "trans debate" for about a decade now, there is no daylight between how the trump administration and conservatives lie about tylenol and autism and how they've lied about youth trans care.

Bothers me when people discuss Left movements in the U.S. w/out underscoring the GENERATIONS of repression, surveillance, violence directed at movements. The "Left" is so disorganized is used as a joke but I hardly ever see those same people saying 'THE LEFT WAS TARGETED & DISORGANIZED by the STATE'

If I've learned anything over the course of my 4 decades it's that if you don't take the time to tally up your victories you WILL lost the will to fight. Very few of us have bottomless willpower, especially when we are told our successes are meaningless.

Folks, you can't report the United States to its manager. There's no superhero coming to save us. We don't need one giant act of heroism. We need millions of small acts of solidarity. Help one person in your community for nothing in return. Then, do it again. And again. That's the revolution.

This is the biggest attack on free speech since the McCarthy era but it also has significantly less popular consensus behind it than the second Red Scare. It's being done on behalf of a minority faction led by the most unpopular president in modern history. Organizing against this can win.

It is wild that Charlie Kirk of all things is becoming *the* litmus test. Even just talking about the event publicly without a sufficient supply of sackcloth and ashes is cast as "promoting political violence." I haven't seen this kind of mandatory performance of allegiance and piety since 9/11.

The "parades" I have been to are one of the very, VERY few conduits by which normies are encountering leftist thought, by way of signage, people passing out literature, Socialists setting up an info booth, etc. I see queers and Christians marching side-by-side peacefully. All of that matters!

I know I'm kind of moody about this. But I see it as an opportunity to pass out zines, fliers, information to normies. And I would say, since normal people make up the majority of the population, having them on your side is a good idea. I actually think that a "parade" is a good idea.

And like, to combat this- because this understanding of being trans as Iike, a style choice- we really need to make clear that stuff like "death before detransition" is not a slogan. That we have something in us that demands wither transition or misery, and we will not choose misery and should not.
