However, my feed over the last few days has led me to believe that “tell me what you need me to do in order to help, and I will do it” may actually be a skill.

Haven’t been on here since I had a psychotic break in December. My brain is still fried. I’m trying to find a way to occupy my understimulated mind because all I do is pace.

I blocked all the fun things on my phone a few days ago. I went to my 20-year high school reunion and asked people I had good conversations with how to best keep in touch with them. I had them write it down on a piece of paper.

I'm old. If you're not, listen to this. Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder. Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever. It's literally never been more important.

resolved: people who insist that all social media sites must be places where users are constantly encountering and arguing with people over fundamental disagreement do so because their actual, real lives are echo chambers where they do not encounter any meaningful difference from day-to-day.

Also, my horizons will be broadened by the ppl who voted for the senile fraud who picked sex pest chowderhead Matt Gaetz as AG and RFK Jr. to watch over the nation’s health? I’ll take a big passaroonie on that. They’re already gonna ruin the country, at least let me keep them out of my mentions

Turns out, the mean girls at my mom’s work are into planners. I’ve never been more prepared for a battle in my life. “I have a bunch of planner sticker packs I haven’t opened, you can use them for coolness and friendship!”

The biggest difference in my perspective circa 2016 and now is that, before, I felt like “I’ll just stay inside until this passes.” Now it’s clear that I can’t bank on that; I need to find community.

Even without reverence, if you support a general set of policies, it should be okay to assume they mean the more positive aspects I want a leader to lift millions out of poverty and invest in public infrastructure that benefits as many people as possible, not be racist towards Japanese people

All these “I voted for Trump because everyone is mean to white men” takes just amount to “why won’t you people hold still so I can build my success on your backs like my father and grandfather did??”

I feel like if hearing “men are trash” on TikTok or seeing those “the future is female” tee shirts in 2016 was really enough to turn all these young men into little Hitlers, then they were probably looking for an excuse to go fascist anyway.

The thing is, this isn't even what they're doing, which is far worse. The implicit ask in any of these calls for amity across the aisle is for the most privileged portions of the Democratic coalition to sell the more oppressed members out to make peace.

well, everybody, this is going to suck, but we’re going to follow the blueprint of every monster movie with a 2 in the title: take a little time to disbelieve that this is happening again, then use what we learned last time to fight hard, protect each other, and survive for as long as we can.
