After a neighbor was hit by a driver and sent to the hospital at 35th and Alaska these cones appeared creating extra space for people crossing at the intersection. Today SDOT removed the cones without making any changes to the intersection.

The Seattle City Council bullied District 2's elected council member into retirement, appointed their hand picked successor, and then scheduled the most important votes of the year for a day he told them a month and a half in advance that he wouldn't be able to make. So anti-democratic.

The neighborhood centers Kettle is now saying the city can't possibly consider were all part of Alternative 5 for the comp plan, which almost everyone on the council said they supported; the reason they aren't in the comp plan now is that Harrell removed them as part of citywide density reductions.

Kettle talked a big game about being pro-housing. Solomon was supposed to be pro-housing. Hollingsworth supposedly supported much more housing in the north end. Nelson has claimed she's not a NIMBY (as most NIMBYs do). Elected CMs all supported Alt 5 as candidates. But reality differs.

It's hard for me not to draw a direct line between Seattle voters approving district elections and today's amendment votes.

It's almost like the Seattle Council should have listened to the planning commission and pushed to expand neighborhood centers in high opportunity areas and end apartment bans close to frequent transit lines in the same neighborhoods.

Sara Nelson is going to be out of office next year but the wait is...excruciating. Vote Dionne Foster!

I read the amendments and I have a full-time job completely unrelated to city business. It seems like our councilmember, whose job is to vote on things, could read them.

Personally I'm more of a fan of investing this money in road changes that make the camera obsolete, but this is kind of fun.

Respectfully disagree: 1) in fact it is unusual for a democracy w/ this level of GDP to turn authoritarian & so quickly; 2) the weakness of both institutions (congress & courts) and individuals (Schumer etc) is shocking. Would take less than 10 people in congress or 2 SC justices to stop all this.

Although police departments are supposed to address road hazards, our database shows they tend to not just ignore safety hazards faced by bicyclists, but are actually sources in create them.
