If when you are talking about your identity, your sexuality, your self, someone's reaction is "No, you are not. You do not fit my criteria, you are xyz instead" That person is trying to affirm a position in some kind of weird fucking hierarchy. Others are not the authority on your self. Fuck.

What IS gender? Your gender identity is your sense of self in relation to the sexed traits of your body and how the society you are in defines and understands gender and sex. Gender is how we explain that complicated sense of self to each other with simplifications, allegory and metaphor.
