He never had any intention of doing the actual job. They never do. He just wanted to get on tv ranting about forrins in Parliament. That and promote products for whoever wanted to line his pockets. People should be embarrassed that they thought he actually cared.

Interesting that the idea of another EU referendum is regularly discussed on broascast media as something that would cause division and thus a bad idea. But plans to deport literally millions of people are discussed as administrative questions.

David Sullivan is worth over £1bn. Lady Brady upwards of £90m. If the MoL is concerned - and he is right to be - about Londoners losing £2.5m due to West Ham's relegation and Johnson's terrible deal, then he knows who to go and ask for a refund.

Been watching 'Believe Me' on ITV? The only reason a judicial review was allowed on the behaviour of the police in the Worboys taxi attacks on over 100 women was because of the Human rights act. And the Conservatives and Reform want to get rid of the Human rights act.

Britain is a wealthy law-abiding country, with a long shared history, a vibrant civic society and robust institutions. It is not in any way ungovernable and suggesting it is lets the people who should be governing it off the hook.

I'm not convinced that Britain has become "ungovernable" or whatever but I do think that Westminster - the MPs and the journalists and all the people around both - do probably make things quite bad for whoever happens to be PM* *which is not to excuse Keir Starmer, who also happens to be shit

If Starmer resigns in the next few days it will be because of Mandelson. Mandelson made the nation think, how could such an apparently intelligent man make such a obviously stupid decision.
