O’Reilly’s movement allowing Rashford to receive in space so often. Takes people away with his runs inside / outside, knows exactly when to do it

53 international goals in 47 matches. Silly, silly stuff. And they’re going to the World Cup for the first time since France 98.

Fully deserved, he’s been magnificent. Dead sound lad as well from everything I’ve heard. Good luck to him

Manchester: really seems like Guardiola has reinvented himself, potentially in the most dramatic way left. Doku the big beneficiary. Article only makes sense if you're into Sudoku.

Has Pep coached the skill and expression out of Doku yet? 🤨

A good day out that. Think we’ll have to get used to seeing out matches like we did second half there without as much of the ball as we’re accustomed to. St James’ after the break

Excellent half of football that. Dominant, making chances, pretty solid at the back. Same again for the second half please. That Nico goal going down as a goal from a corner?

Same as Bournemouth. Remains to be seen if we’ll set up in the same way and with the same plans. Liverpool as expected sticking with a team more akin to how they set up last season.

Just so we’re keeping count that’s 33 goals scored so far this season. Zero from set pieces.

Once we got going we were pretty good. Foden excellent, Savinho much improved, Haaland Haaland.

This is what Foden’s final form should look more like. Yeah score your goals and all but it’s the stuff he’s doing in deeper areas in midfield, putting people in more and more often as he did with Savinho before the goal. So lucky to have him

Finally went up the field after 5 mins. Dortmund having all the ball. I looked at getting a ticket for this at the weekend, only ones available were in the 3rd tier and I ended up not being able to go anyway. God knows what they’re doing with the lower tier tickets, plenty of empty seats

Felix Nmecha returns tonight. I watched a fair bit of him at City and he almost always did something really nice in a match but sometimes it felt like that was the only thing he did. Difficult to judge the trajectory of that type of player but you could always see he was a talent

Centrally Doku often has runners around / ahead of him and his next best option after he beats his man becomes obvious. On the wing the whole game is often in front of him when he goes past his man and his options are plentiful. Central areas simplify things for him and make him more effective.

Guardiola consistently told us what he wanted to do differently this season. It’s manifesting itself most obviously in the amount of one vs ones we’re seeing. Four in the first half yesterday.

Been pretty good but it’s far from done. Need to take our big chances. Cherki been great. We have to keep taking advantage of their high line. Couple of decent corners at the start too which have then deteriorated back to the mean. They’re dangerous, might need a couple more

Not a greats start. Cherki coming inside from rw with Nunes pushing on in possession.

Cherki starts. Probably from the right wing but plenty of alternative set ups. No Khusanov but a physical back 4 with Nico G ahead of them will hopefully be enough.

It really is a game for Khusanov today but his 60 mins return on Wednesday wasn’t massively convincing. Would still be tempted to start him if he’s feeling good

Palace v Brentford for me today. Really sums up the Premier League at the moment. Two goals from set-pieces, almost nothing else. Just no hint of any combination play or individual magic. It’s getting a bit boring to be saying this every week but blimey…

We’re now 14 matches into the season. We’ve scored 28 goals. Not one from any type of set piece. Corners, free-kicks, penalties - nothing so far.

Trafford didn’t have too much to do last night but the way he did it you can see the level he has. Could honestly be one of the best in the world.
