Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significantâthough not finalâvictory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link)

This chart showing 80% of Americans think itâd be great if more of us worked in factories, while just 20% would actually work in a factory, applies to much of the fake populist promise They celebrate farmers but donât want to farm, miners but donât want to mine, soldiers but donât want to fight etc

This is the type of simple reallocation of space that would help rural America. Slows down vehicles with narrow lanes whole providing a 2-way bikeway. There are so many streets in Hood River County that could go this way.

As ever, the loss of something good and useful for Americans is framed as a loss for Democrats â in the mass media, everything becomes just a political football to be kicked back and forth instead of examined for its impact on everyday citizens regardless of political party.

Anyway, alcohol was fun in my younger years, but it doesn't translate to the life I want to live now. If I can do it, anyone can do it. It's an addictive poison that society has normalized, often in excess, and you have to make this decision for yourself. My 2 cents. Good luck if you try it.
