Marcia Lucas did groundbreaking film editing work, for both her then-husband George Lucas and for Martin Scorsese. Had a hell of a story sense. So even without editing one film, she positively influenced it: 1/3

I just had an encounter that mostly went well. But I had to be prepared for a potentially sad thing: one of the people I met has dementia, and hasn't seen me in years. There was a non-zero chance this person wouldn't recognize me. Happily, they did.

Me explaining to anyone who will listen how I just really like Keith David and everything he’s ever been in, even the bad stuff, because he just seems to always be having a good time and I’m glad he’s getting a star on the Walk of Fame because good for him.

One of my strongest takeaways from the Bee this week is that it was a showcase for why critical thinking matters more than ever. So much of what the kids do up there isn’t rote memorization—it’s using their insane prep to solve words like puzzles (using etymology, patterns) in real time.

I had to see this for myself and YES IT'S REAL And that insert shot of Shatner from "Star Trek II" is one of my favorite closeups ever. The shot preceding it is Shatner saying "KIRK. Admiral James T." with a sly smile on his face. The cutaway insert looks like he's sweating through a mugshot.

Wesley and Barclay do a lot of heavy lifting to remind us that the bridge crew are three-dimensional people who sometimes fuck up and not like, perfect heroes who save the day every week and whose problems are all resolved after 42 minutes. they were also a mean girls clique sometimes!!

This thread is amazing and my personal ones are: - scary test results that arrive w no way to reach a doctor - apps that automatically log you out every time you lose cell and WiFi (eg, on the subway) - captchas that are less a test for robots and more a reminder that my autism is a disability

I love how Jack Quaid plays either the perfect, sweet boy (Novocain, The Boys, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Superman) or the most fucked up toxic incel (Scream, Companion). He's very good at both.

What I AM saying right now--what I'd like you to take away from this thread--is that communicating and making art are both human rights (often the same), no matter how skilled you are or aren't at them; and anyone who says otherwise probably has an agenda you shouldn't trust.
