We really need a constitutional amendment to limit presidential pardon power even if it is only possible to pass it after Trump’s term. The founders obviously never envisioned any president using it this brazenly and corruptly while remaining impervious to impeachment.

the jury nullification take is wrong. If that’s what had happened they wouldn’t have sent a note to the judge asking for definitions of relevant terms. They just didn’t think he did the crime after considering the evidence and following the given instructions. Don’t charge sandwich cases.

And of course there's still my Greasy Roll theory of a second sandwich thrower, still on the loose, the one whose mustard-and-onion laden sandwich struck the agent with such force that it completely vaporized, leaving no evidence but an odor. We know this happened, because otherwise the agent lied.

This is part of what I see as the biggest obstacle to Trump consolidating authoritarianism. He has been as successful as he has because people see what they want in him. This amorphousness makes it very difficult to enforce the kind of discipline needed to consolidate.

What's happening in TX-18 is more obscene than not seating Grijalva during pro formas. Turner died in March. Abbott delayed the special election until yesterday, and now it goes to a runoff early *next year.* Congress can and should require special elections to be held within 90 days of a vacancy.
