My fear is that we are returning to the world order of nationalist interests and individual alliances that the UN was designed to fix, because it caused the senseless devastation of WWI.

(Don't know how long this will be but it's rant time) So, I keep seeing people lament that the post-WWII world order is functionally over. And yes, we're not going back. But what bothers me is that it's a lament. Do you not realize that... it's not normal to expect to be the most powerful country?

It is not *moral* for the human species to be at the whims of a few nations. You were one of those who held the world hostage. And you were helped in that by Europe, and by Canada, and to god I hope we really do stop lifting up your empire, and that we don't build our own.

I am cynical as hell and I spend too much time online but I also get to meet a lot of new people in person every day and let me tell you: The average person is actually pretty nice. A big secret is catching people when there is no audience involved.
