It seems to me that past right-wing moved to eliminate government programs would be couched in some sort of “taxpayer savings” rhetoric. I haven’t seen anything of the sort with the SNAP cuts. Just cruelty and no justification as to why, thinly veiled or otherwise.

My faves are administrative bloat and the use of external management companies, invariably pushing expensive technology solutions in the name of "efficiency." Our CFO has a staff of 500 people. They've paid Oracle $150M-$250M for vapor. They want to balance the budget by auditing my $12 sandwich.

I love that in order to use "AI responsibly" we're requested to check all the AI references, which presumably, we could avoid by just doing the actual research required.

True at McGill and at my former uni, where it led to major reorg that increased centralization (and the number of high level administrators). It's a major reason why my faculty and others have unionized at McGill. Info about the uni's finances is difficult to impossible to access. Nous is involved.

We've experienced most of the things listed including enrollment /program increases (but without classrooms large enough to host all the new students). I've heard there is now a "policy" that now when colleagues retire they will be replaced at a 4:1 ratio (4 retirements = 1 new hire). Unsustainable.
