It occurs to me that Sadiq Khan is in reality what Sir Kier advertises himself as: working class kid made good turned blandly competent centre left administrator. It turns out I don't mind it when someone really is that! Not my favourite politics but definitely in the "willing to vote for it" range.

NEW ANALYSIS: UK emissions fell 2.4% in 2025 as coal fell to a 400-year low. Incredibly, we used less coal last year than than in 1600, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne and Shakespeare was writing Hamlet. All the details in our article:

This is also such bad advice on the NYT's part; the best way to play this is surely just to knock on their door in a polite, friendly fashion and explain to them that you're the gay couple upstairs and you have a daughter. 18-19 is a prime age for learning that Other People Exist.

I unfollowed that person and now I rarely, if ever, come across this content. So the next time you find yourself thinking, "this whole place is crazy! I'm seeing all this wild discourse or whatever?" just ask yourself, "who's reskeeting all this hairy clussy into my timeline?" and act accordingly.

This reminds me of an old lady in our local NextDoor group who logs in every day and posts a (rhyming, poor scansion) poem about her life/the birds/the weather. If she doesn't log in she will explain later what prevented her. Lately, she's missed a lot more days due to medical problems 😢

Sometimes I get weary of the fact that almost all Golden Age detective novels are secretly heterosexual marriage plots in disguise, but then I read a bunch of Anthony Berkeley novels which are mostly about 'what if a woman was such a bitch that she deserved to be murdered' & I yearn for the m p.

Difference between US & UK citizens right there. UK - we hold the right to cross the road on our own terms sacrosanct. US - they hold the right to wield a gun in almost any time and place sacrosanct. I know where I feel safest.

I'm not especially opposed to driverless cabs, but I'm fucked if I'm giving up my ancestral British right to cross the road anywhere if it's safe for me to do so. "Jaywalking" isn't a thing or a crime here, techbros, so your magic cars will have to learn to deal with that.

I'm not even saying that's the most *likely* possibility, but it's just very clear that the likelihood of that outcome as increased and even if there's, like, a 1 in 10 change that "AI replaces most to all white collar jobs in 10 years" that's an *enormous* risk to the social order!

I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

I'm worried that the broader public isn't really understanding the Epstein Files. The problem isn't that everyone in the files is a secret pedophile, it's that all the people are corresponding with him because they *don't care that he's a pedophile*. It's a story of elite impunity.
