This was always inevitable based on the figures Reform were quoting. There just aren't hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers to fulfil their mass deportations pledge.

Finding this a much harder read than I anticipated, there is a huge amount of me that I see in Peter and I'm having to take breaks to process how I'm feeling about that. This is a fantastic meditation on how grief can shape our needs and wants, and as someone filled with grief, it is a little close

One of my more controversial, but harmless, opinions is that Leonard Cohen's version of Hallelujah is still the best of the lot. Buckley is a smoother listen, a better arrangement, but the harsh funereal dirge of the original captures the melancholy underpinning both the holiness and horniness.

Staying with family for a while, and whilst it is nice and cosy, I do wish they'd stop "tidying" my things mid-use. Making a V60 turn around for the coffee filters and they're gone, being carried off to be hidden with the napkins somewhere.

It turns out that ignoring the increased radicalisation of loyalist communities does not, in fact, lead to peaceful community cohesion.

Sabrina Carpenter's Man's Best Friend is kind of a mess? But a fun mess. At least that's what I thought at first, but the more I listen to it the more I find it oddly clever in its messiness? There's only one real pop banger, Manchild, and that's sort of the point, she's not just there to banger.

It's weird to me that Ghosts is the only recent sitcom to make it on this list (a perfectly fine show!) And Derry Girls, arguably my number one and an absolute critical darling, and Brassic, a perfect distillation of 2010s scally culture, didn't.

Its simple, to create your new mass left-wing movement you just have to take your favourite determiner and add the word party.

"I heard death comes in threes, But misheard it being from Dublin. I thought death's in the trees. Which makes sense, because they're the most pathetic cunts of Plants." Is already my lyric of the year, absolutely no competition.

Again, much like Starmer doomerism, I don't think it will happen, but if I was trying to kill the world's oldest political party, this is probably not a bad start.

The government is pursuing a marginal voter strategy in which they believe the marginal voter is somewhere to the right of where Nigel Farage was in 2018.

Look, I think it's very easy to get sucked into "Keir's doomed" but if you were to find a way to blow up your premiership, it would be doing a messy reshuffle then going straight into making your allies defend the ambassador you will inevitably have to sack for a scandal you very clearly knew about.

I do think it's weird that the Sunday shows are still talking about the people on the Tommy Robinson march yesterday as if they're regular, concerned people who might have been infiltrated by a few extremists and not, as we can all see tanked up racists following Tommy Robinson!

I think people underappreciate the degree to which the British conception of themselves as "polite" and "nice" will intercept a lot of the truly worst impulses. It is, oddly bemusing, but we are genuinely better than this.
