LRTs: I worked w/ machine learning in uni. So... a while ago. Just realized something: aren't all these cases of LLMs sucking up as much data as they can a gross case of unsupervised/semi-supervised learning? Moderation seems by necessity to have to be supervised and reinforcement.

People once again need to internalize that "generative AI" is a small subset of machine learning, that machine learning is a critical tool that you cannot run a site without past a certain volume Bluesky has long since exceeded, and that it is FAR more reliable than user reporting.

I get that there are a lot of flaws to the implementation of auto moderation but I do think folks need to grasp (a) how it actually works, (b) how impractical the alternatives are, and (c) that human social media content moderation is one of the most mentally scarring and unbearable jobs in history.
