Glutamatergic neurons are the brain’s primary drivers of excitation, fueling learning, memory, and cognition through synaptic plasticity. When disrupted, they’re linked to depression, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s, and epilepsy. Understanding them = understanding how the brain adapts.
