There’s a real divide here among the police. Some seem to be going out of their way to be very nice to press, and others are completely happy to shove us. They seem to have a similar divide with their assignment and the protesters as well.

Illinois state police and Cook County sheriffs just pushed protesters (and journalists) off the sidewalk and into private property near the Broadview ICE facility, some stomping/kicking protesters stuff. Attitudes vary between joy and lackluster requests people move.

I realize it probably wasn't @govpritzker.illinois.gov's intent -- but it appears that by providing state police to Broadview, it freed up more militarized ICE units to go tear gas people in neighborhoods.

riot cops have cleared the street to make way for ice agents who are coming and leaving in vehicles. i’m no lawyer, but it’s hard to believe this isn’t a total violation of the illinois trust act, which bars state and local police from cooperating with feds.
