this continues to be a local transit as well as a bike parking issue. samtrans has not properly adapted its services to electrification and important stations like the rebuilt hillsdale aren't served by busses that continue to serve the area near the old station, a 15 minute walk away

They're not. They exist to replace public transit with cars, and they block bike lanes every day, among many other erratic unsafe behaviors

I am on a crowded 7 train/day Capital Corridor headed to San Jose Even though it is a slow diesel train on shared freight tracks, it is the fastest trip between Oakland and San Jose! It is faster than BART, Caltrain, or even driving, and that's before electrification!

Reminder that overhead catenary trains are easier to maintain and cost less to operate than diesel trains. Rail electrification doesn't just eliminate tailpipe emissions, it leads to faster, more frequent service and higher ridership.

when honolulu skyline is fully complete & ridership materializes, it'll be the sole US template for a world-class, automated, frequent metro. incentivizing mode shift in american cities means building fast and frequent transit to useful places - something most new transit projects in the US flop at

AC Transit's recent Realign service plan estimated hourly costs for a bus at $172/hour, where $343k would mean 2000 service hours. A single bus running once an hour each way from Caltrain to the park (a twenty minute trip, with layover time) comes out to 1250 service hours. Just run the bus!

Can we please stop talking about how @bart.gov needs to "cut costs". They are the most efficient transit agency in the nation and the trains are overcrowded with riders. @governor.ca.gov fund BART to run trains every 6 minutes like WMATA in DC. End transit austerity!

hey @bart.gov why did my red line leave 10 minutes early? i wanted to transfer to it from Caltrain but now am stuck waiting longer than a single headway

anyway, not to don my tinfoil hat over here, but it feels like a conspiracy. i don’t think this is a radical idea: people should be able to choose how plugged in we want to be. instead we all gotta live with hypnotism machines in our pocket. i hate it. i hate it and im throwing my iphone in a lake.
