This is horrific beyond belief. I'd argue it's genocidal. There should be criminal charges for every decision-maker in the NHS for this, but we'll be lucky if it's soft walked-back in 30 years with nothing more than a half-hearted apology once everyone involved has retired with an OBE.

Important reminder - a year long 'investigation' took place without even once speaking to any family, child or young person involved. Not even once. Cos the people involved are happy with the care provided, consider it critical and often life-saving care. The investigation is a giant fraud.

There is no reassurance about continuity of care. They simply say people should access the children's gender service (which hasn't prescribed anything to anyone in the 3 years since opening). They do not say the children's gender service will continue any medication

From current information a blanket medical withdrawal / forced detransition is being applied to all age groups under 18. The 'investigation' and alleged 'potential harms' are an absolute joke. The letters say that medication will not be possible after July.

Update: Young people & families today received shocking & transphobic letters from NHS. These letters tell people that endocrine care (blockers / HRT) is being fully withdrawn in 7 weeks time (July 31st). Forced medical detransition. This country is a danger to trans children & young people.

Even at the pundit level, if what you want is a party that hates trans people and women, that valorizes a kind of rural white masculinity, and that organizes around contempt for all things urban, educated, and liberal… well, they already have that, and maybe you should just be on the side you’re on.

A lot of doctors and allies miss that being too conservative with trans healthcare has a cost. One of the big things an adult transition costs you is time. You've already lost decades, and you *want* to grab as much of what remains as you can, only to have to wait and watch.

HRT for trans teens is the only moral option. Imagine being 18 and *not having gone through puberty yet* because the only treatment you're allowed are blockers? Let trans teens go through their proper puberty. It's not difficult. It's not dangerous.

trans children deserve the puberty they want as much as cis children, a puberty being “natural” does not make it better or less of a choice, and that most people think otherwise just shows that most people have very parriarchal, essentialist, biologist and teleological views on human bodies.

Porn is political. This isn’t hard. The idea that sexual life and fantasies exist in a private bubble severed from and above any kind of political critique is just self-evidently absurd! I love, and make, problematic art; but the barrier to entry has to be some element of reflexivity there.

Religion has zero place in healthcare. Religious organisations should not be able to object to abortion, transition, vaccination, or any other form of medicine they may choose to have an issue with tomorrow. Enough of this nonsense.

"Gender reassignment surgery for minors" is the new "third trimester abortion" in that democrats are taking the bait and arguing fascist talking points. Very few minors want srs and if they do, they should be able to get the care they need. Government shouldn't interfere with healthcare

If you want art to be free, start subsidizing artists. I am lucky (atm) that I am on a grant that necessitates open access for all my nonfiction publications be open access. This also involves funding the research and the researchers’ salaries. It’s an easy compromise!

I'm dependent entirely on my art for my livelihood, and it's as precarious and terrifying as you might think. I write for an underserved niche of queer readers who appreciate my work but who aren't in the best financial straits themselves. My work thus isn't "mainstream" or with "wide appeal".
