Ringstead Bay in Dorset is lovely and unspoilt. The beach is single and huge. Easy to have a large chunk to yourself. Great walk across the cliff on the SW coast path to The Smugglers Inn or The Sailors Return.

The Sussex Downs. We stayed on an Airbnb in a farm, with a good pub a mile away over fields; and the coast, Charleston, Brighton, and the wonderful Downs themselves, 20 minutes away.

Dorset in the Sherborne/Blandford Forum/ Sturminster Newton area? Great pubs, pretty countryside, not too crowded, beaches nearby. Or we could offer a pleasant garden in the Peak District just ‘cos I love your writing!!

I know it has an OAP reputation, but I really like Dorset. Bridport would be lovely to hang out for a bit. Good food, beautiful scenery, sea swimming, and nowhere as far as other beautiful places.
