I’ve started using the term “ethnic cleansing campaign” to describe the ICE occupation here in Minnesota. I don't know how to convey to people that POLICING in the US is experienced by countless Black and brown people in the way that ICE is currently acting towards people.

Even just a name can put in motion efforts that get someone released. If they're a citizen, we can get them jail support. If they're an immigrant, there are groups working overtime to file habeas petitions before they're whisked out of state. But it starts with a name.

There used to be an Indignant Minnesotan account that would have had something to say about this "mid-sized city" dig (we're the 16th largest media market in the country, FFS) but the broader point stands.
