The cyberattack on The British Library in October 2023 knocked out ebooks and almost ever other computer thing there for years. Ebooks just came back. They were knocked out everywhere using the BL’s license (legal deposit libraries I think? More libraries?) Distributed physical copies matter.

I think the greatest trick for getting good at creative work i know is - finish making as many mediocre things as possible. Just finish stuff, again and again. Share it or don’t, but put a bow on it, put it aside, make the next thing, repeat.

The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.

Disney has exactly two franchises that are made for endless sequels, and they've squandered them both. The first, Fantasia, because they're too cowardly to create real art. The second, The Rescuers, because they're too cowardly to go back to their roots and tell tales about child abuse.

I suspect the Pope sounds "woke" to many Christian conservatives because the US is steeped in prosperity theology, where the point of worship is to deliver health and wealth to believers. Thus, "feed the hungry" and "show mercy for the poor" sounds needlessly political and "woke."
