I was on Twitter since 2008. I watched "the influence" you're talking about, and what you're calling influence, I call theft. People MINED us for content and views. The influencers who got on used their proximity to us to market themselves to white folks. What did that influence get US? Nothing.

Can we talk about it? There were whole articles that were nothing but tweets. And I don't just mean buzzfeed. My tweets ended up on CNN. Fox. MSNBC. MAJOR news outlets. Often with no additional commentary. Just "look what The Blacks said about this." That's not influence. That's consumption.

If you had told 15 year old me that the man at the center of Flavor of Love would become a champion of women's sports equity I would've thought you were high. For all the random sh*t this simulation does, some of it is actually pretty cool.
