There are many factors behind Doctor Who’s current state, absolutely none of them can be blamed on Chibnall who left the show having given the next team a literal free, open pass and moved on to other things. Yelling at him is silly.

I agree, and have advocated for, Doctor Who being more horror-driven (I think one of my previous posts is one of the instigators of the current discussion). BUT, Doctor Who *is* more than horror. It needs range and new voices, regardless of genre.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 10: People read for many reasons. Sometimes it's because they recognize fine writing. Most of the time it's for something else; plot; character; a world; an idea. Don't dismiss the books you dislike as "populist." Try to understand what readers found to love in them.
