This is another book that you absolutely should read. An amazing near-future setting with an even more amazing setting nested within it.

Read WHO KILLED NESSIE? by Paul Cornell and Rachael Smith over lunch. Charming, cryptid muder-mystery, with real heart and real fortean knowledge in that John-Allison-adjacent space I always like to see. This is the Avery Hill edition, but I got the Zoop crowdfunder.

Today I finished the audiobook of @aptshadow.bsky.social 's Spiderlight. In spirit this mythic quest is Frankenstein's monster meets Good Omens. Bonus features include narration by the author - no nuance is overlooked - and a starring role for a most excellent spider. Highly recommended.

Well that’s less than appetising.

Video games fundamentally require teleological thinking: to achieve goal X, you must do Y. Llm's lack any kind of teleology, they fundamentally cannot produce a coherent video game. Because no matter the video game, there are goals to achieve and some means of achieving those goals.
