I believe (and I could be wrong) that Orphan 55 is the last episode to date to neither mention a previous story, follow up on its predecessor or be linked in some other way. Admittadely some of the connections are a stretch but I think it's true.

Certainly online it seems that Dot and Bubble is the cult favourite Ncuti episode, I've seen lots of people talk about it as a memorable episode on here, Reddit etc. Probably because of how relevant it is regarding vapid social media bubbles. I like it, this isn't a critique, just interesting.

I just found out Earthshock Episode 1 is the only episode of Classic Doctor Who where the whole cast is alive as Beryl Reid doesn't show up until Episode 2. Interesting fact but also leaves me wondering what the Classic story overall with the highest current survival rate is. Must be 80s.

We hear a lot about possible Doctors but apart from April Walker as Sarah Jane and Denise Buckley as Victoria never anything about almost/possible companion actors other than Doctor Who guest actors who were invited to become regulars. There were possibly some future a-listers who went for a part!

The other thing about Boom - and it's not the episode's fault, more the era's - is that it would've stood out more if the rest of the season and era wasn't so fucking weird. Boom is textbook "something completely different" low budget late season after a big two parter but it's not.
