#MEAwarenessDay I've not been on here much lately and that's because my health has been so shit. Mostly bedbound for over a year and a half, along with new weird symptoms yet to be explained. I've dragged myself to various appointments and tests and been trying drugs. Nothing has helped so far.

Meanwhile Star Wars came out nearly 50 years ago, no one is saying that is no longer suitable for kids. Heck, they're still making new content encouraging you to watch them! (As is Lord of the Rings!) FWIW, my nieces (19, 13, 13) love Lord of the Rings. The eldest is a full blown Aragorn girlie. 🤷‍♂️

My autistic brain does not like the fact that this fandom gives The Force Awakens so much flak for being A New Hope 2.0, when The Last Jedi is just as much a redux of The Empire Strikes Back (at times to it's detriment, imo). It just feels unfair/inconsistent to me.

Glad that Maul: Shadow Lord sticks the landing. Not flawless, but it has a very strong sense of what it wants to be, and it uses the tool set Star Wars provides to deliver on that pretty well. It's not The Acolyte S2, but I'm glad Star Wars hasn't completely abandoned those vibes.

The Andorians on Star Trek originally did not have humanoid ears. They heard with their antennae. This is why in “Journey to Babel” they lean their heads forward when they listen. Later makeup teams didn’t know this. No ears makes them more interesting & alien than the fancier modern prosthetics.

As a child I was stumped on how they got the motion blur in this scene. It's claymation so it can't just be drawn in. Much later I found out that all the blur in the tracking and panning shots is actual *motion* blur. The sets were moved for a fraction of a second during each exposure!

When radioactivity was discovered, there was a rush to market for all sorts of radioactive consumer goods. There were water jugs made out of uranium glass, for example. I think about that a lot these days whenever I see AI products being marketed to consumers.

This is definitely my favourite incarnation. It's an odd parallel, but the way they portray Sherlock's addiction as a constant ongoing struggle made me feel very seen as someone with chronic illness. He doesn't always succeed. He doesn't always handle it with grace. His loved ones help him try.
