Similarly, you can't complain that a story doesn't tell you something, while also saying you skipped lore documents for the purpose of review. Games are collections of systems. Isolated system critique or partial system critique is a pointless exercise on its own.

I think of lot of legitimate critical works get bogged down in this kind of cinemasins nitpicking. If I'm engaging with a critique, I want thoughts on game feel, pacing, mechanical design, aesthetic decisions, etc. I *don't* want pointing to asset reuse and saying "the devs don't care."

Thinking about this because I stopped a review halfway through; Something that frustrates me about a lot of modern video game critique is the overly literal interpretation of dialogue and "lore," where thematic statements or minor changes are presented as meaningfully paradoxical. And thus, bad.

Like, Zyuranger is weird enough, but part of why people talk about MMPR being "sOOo cRAZyyy" is that they amputated the show's themes to superglue on Saved by The Bell shit

What this means to me: Schools are so desperate for funding they’re willing to take AI company’s big money while AI companies are desperate to have a reason to exist in the far future so they’re funding schools to teach kids how to use AI as shortcuts for everything, making them dependent on it.

That's fucking stupid. Teach them critical thinking. Teach them how interest works so they know about loans and credit cards. Teach them civics, so they don't grow up to be self-centered arseholes. This is setting them up for failure.

Multiple studies have shown that AI has a negative impact on learning & decision-making/judgment, this is a huge mistake. How about proficiency in critical reading and thinking?
