Eh, half a year's not too bad

The 60th Anniversary felt like an unburdening of the show's past: the exhausted Doctor of yesterday taking his history and retiring to a never-ending garden party, the Doctor of tomorrow emerging light as a feather, rising to face new adventures. Instead, the burden grew larger than ever before.

What a strange, cynical, rushed, odd, formulaic, bizarre era of Doctor Who this has been. Never before has an opportunity been so thoroughly squandered.

Six and a bit months on and I've just finished both sequels: Red Seas Under Red Skies and The Republic of Thieves. Clapping when you finish a book is almost as strange as clapping when a plane lands but it feels appropriate in this case. 💙📚 Patiently waiting for whatever the hell happens next.
