It's been a while that we could watch chimps fishing for algae. They do it with longer sticks when gathering the algae from the bottom of the water source. The other technique we've recently seen is scooping algae from the surface.

Oh well. It was nice while it lasted. VC ruins everything it touches. At least the at protocol layer makes it possible to run alternative instances (although not cheap so would require some crowd funding model for running costs like wikipedia). Better get a move on with that.

I will never get over how the result of going through a global pandemic that killed over 7 million people, including 1.2 million Americans—and where we swiftly created an effective vaccine for it—was massive growth in anti-vax sentiment, the rise of RFK Jr., and the return of fucking measles.

The corporate ladder over a certain level stops being about competence but becomes "who can bullshit other bullshitters the best." You only need to be competent at lower levels. I worked at companies where we tried to exclude managers as much as possible because they got in the way of the job.

Interesting look at energy production vs consumption. Compares energy usage (useful stuff we want) vs energy source (what happens now to get it). If you account for energy lost in conversion i.e. electric motors are 90% efficient vs petrol 30% efficient then energy rhetoric looks very different.
