Seeing the new 4K Speed Racer got me thinking about examples of characters who show up for one scene or moment, barely say or do anything, then leave, but are somehow one of coolest looking people in the movie.

Caught the new Bob Odenkirk movie "Normal," which was a lot of fun to go in blind and I recommend any action fan to do the same. But it was also cool to see a non-binary character featured prominently in an action movie while not having their identity be a punchline or shift focus from the story.

Tonight: the world premiere of the 4K remaster of Speed Racer in a sold out crowd and Lilly Wachowski in attendance.

What a picture! Haven't seen it since I was a kid. Some of the snappiest, most New York dialogue you'll hear with a cast of regular looking people that are more engaging than most actors.

Finally finished Witch From Mercury. First half was going great but then by the second half they were doing too much, like they forgot they were running out of episodes. That said, there's SO MUCH I liked about the series: character design, music, animation, voice acting, intrigue. Good stuff!

It amazes me how much it feels like the series is going out of its way to create more of a stink around it. Especially in this case when the game had cast a trans masc actor for the role to begin with who has been on record for wanting to reprise the role for the show.
