And I'm NOT saying that no Civ game ever has problems. The Civ V happiness mechanic had major issues! Civ 6's AI *was* pretty bad! Civ 7's UI absolutely did suck at launch!

Also as a veteran Civ player, I've been through the new game backlash too many times. When Civ 5 came out, people swore they were sticking to Civ 4. When 6 came out, they absolutely did not want to move on from 5. And now here we are at Civ 7, and Civ 6 is suddenly the best game ever.

Civ 7 is far and away the most complex mainline civ game ever released. It has so many interlocking systems and mechanics. That can feel overwhelming, especially because when the game was first released it did a poor job of making those systems visible.

My hot take is that people *think* they don't like Civ 7 because of the changing civilization mechanic, but *really* they don't like it because it is an extremely complex game.
