'expanding access to the Supreme Court--' in no way, shape, or form does using AI to make shit up constitute access! plus we could just put cameras in the courtroom and actually have video of the justices reading their decisions! aaahhh!

I wonder if this might be an occasion for the judiciary to wrassle down the nonsense that is the concept of an "article I court." An administrator ain't a judge just because they put on a robe.

If the material foundation of “AI” is extraction—from minerals for hardware to the data of users—then the political constellation into which you dream it will still be dictated by that bounding condition.

Never have felt the urge to be a parent. I work in student affairs because I see that as my contribution to the future—as an alloparent who can pick up when parents start to shift into relating to their kids as fellow adults. My calling is helping them decide what kind of adult they want to be

My thoughts are also hugely shaped by my core view that there are important distinctions between writing and AI-assisted (or automation-assisted) document production. I'm 100% focused on what it means to learn to write, not just make texts.

Writing Classes Are About Writing, Not AI-Aided Production
If we want students to learn to write, AI tools shouldn’t have much of a role. If we don’t think students need to learn to write anymore, I’m not sure what we’re doing here.

ICE tear gassed a bunch of children on Saturday. This was a massive escalation of force. They were shooting tear gas at the back of the crowd, it took these unmasked people maybe 3-5 minutes in the cloud of tear gas to escape in without trampling.

“People for Portland” and “Partnership for Progress” are the lazier versions of this same phenomenon: Wealthy people and corporations pay right wing activists to set up front groups or PACs with grassroots or populous sounding names to do politics and propaganda for the wealthy & powerful.

ORIGINAL SOURCE UNKNOWN Video shared with Eugene-area rabble rousers (i.e.; me) which shows that the window of the Federal Building was broken by someone INSIDE so they could gas the crowd through the opening. Which is NOT who was blamed for the broken window. Nobody mentioned it was ICE/CBP/DHS!

I may have a stroke. Someone said protests don’t belong in church and it took every ounce of self-censure within me not to say “Deborah you are literally a Protestant.” A PROTESTant. I assume they think Luther was nailing Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons to the door.
