Guys, I don’t want to be alarming, but I believe we need to update our priors on the Trump administration. If he’s serious, then I will have to pay $500,000 this year for my new x10 AI engineers. This is clearly suboptimal for my equity and future capacity to create AI safety.

So I’m not going to argue the OP’s point (probably correct) but tangentially, it’s really hard to measure productivity. Or more specifically, it’s really hard to measure *what specifically drives productivity*. That is much more true at the top down macro level than at the micro level.
