Ooooh, it works!! This is a client talking to an authorization server built with the `@atproto/oauth-provider` package standalone. I've implemented just enough to make this proof of concept work.

I’m not qualified to comment on the technical aspects, but I love how this makes the Cost of ID Infrastructure completely transparent. $1 per account. Maybe $1/year to ensure steady operations of the ‘AT did:fid Infra Fund’. I’d gladly pay $10/year (like a domain) for a decentralized PLC.

I’m fully on board with your subcommunites (aka sub-reddits) pitch; imo feeds are the way to get there. Feeds are a great precursor to subs, like a low stakes test run, much like how many newsletter giants started as a weekly links digest. It SHOULD be possible to moderate a feed and post *to* it.

The situation in Nepal is incredible. The government tried to ban social media last week which led to violent protests and the prime minister ousted. Gen Z protesters then met in a 100K strong Discord chat where they elected ex-chief justice Sushila Karki as the interim prime minister.

I have an insider view of Trust & Safety, and there's a consistent pattern across platforms and protocols: The more local control people have over moderation, the better. It befits a pluralist society, AND is more resistant to capture and pressure campaigns from the rich and powerful.
