As some of you have noticed https://eurosky[.]social (no www) doesn't take you to our website as it's going to the PDS home. Main domain has moved to eurosky.tech but www.eurosky.social also redirects.

We're getting ready to launch - making sure we've got testing, observability and backups all in good order. It's taking a smidgen longer than we hoped but first invites will arrive on the first week of February and roll out throughout the month. Thank you for your patience 🙏

We’re partnering with @europemedialab.bsky.social For Stars4Media Day XII – Democracy infrastructures: European platforms & Eastern correspondents. Main point of the agenda are Trusted European Platforms, a new framework for sovereign, reliable and open digital spaces.

A bunch of us are working on the practical questions of how to decentralize ATProto and create other strong nodes that complement Bluesky. And Bluesky itself wants this. Coming soon: a European identity for ATProto, 1st step toward Euro infra: www.eurosky.social/register @eurosky.social

We’re excited to share that Eurosky now has a supporting legal entity, @modalfoundation.bsky.social - a new nonprofit dedicated to making open social tech viable at scale. Big Tech’s dominance can feel inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be that way. modalfoundation.org

Seems like the registration form for eurosky.social accounts is not loading for some folks using Firefox. It works on Chromium-based browsers and Safari. Will see if there’s a workaround. eurosky.social/register

When we were planning the August edition of @protocolsforpublishers.com we knew that being in the US wasn’t going to work for a lot of people. @chadkoh.com is running with it & now has set a date for London in early February.

Takeaways from #eurosky: big tech social media displaced journalism, a core pillar of democracy, and has been bad for society. EU lawmakers want European, privacy-centered tech. There are still questions of whether the internet is worth building on and what to build. But they are talking about it
