Bluesky is about to reach 44M registered users, and yet it should be more, much more. We have top notch journalists, scientist, investigators, researchers, analysts, no advertising, no white noise, no manipulated algorithm. What's missing is Bsky making noise outside its walls for a new audience.

Why is the EU institutionally much better at producing rules than producing platforms or networks? It has completely failed to create a frictionless intra-EU commerce while succeeding in things that restrict commerce: standards, labelling regulations, VAT complexity, product certification.

Just wanted to say kudos to the Bluesky team for saving the day. Unlike behemoths like Meta and X, Bluesky gets no advertising revenue, does not sell your data or uses a surveillance model. They use Claude as an extra pair of hands because the team is small and AI makes this project manageable.

Yesterday outage on Bluesky, which also severely affected every connected PDS, shows one major flow with the concept that your identity (DID) is portable and transferable. When a PDS is not being able to comunicate your DID is basically locked on the affected PDS.⬇️

Our team received a report of intermittent app outages at about 11:40pm PDT on April 15, 2026. They worked through the night to mitigate a sophisticated Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack, which intensified throughout the day.

This outage has exposed an obvious weakness in the concept of DID portability: when your PSD is down or dead you cannot move your DID to another PSD because you need your current PDS to be accessible to export your data.

If you think it's bad on Bluesky, Eurosky has basically disappeared into a black hole.

Every time i see FORBIDDEN on Bluesky I am reminded of Forbrydelsen the iconic Danish series with Sofie Gråbøl as Detective Sarah Lund. It was one of the most gripping murder series ever made and everyone in the UK learned how to read subtitles and to love Nordic pattern wool sweaters.

it's never fun being up all night trying to keep systems online, but it is great to see co-workers shine and just bulldoze through it. we are not fully out of the woods on this incident, and it will probably be a while before there is any sort of post-mortem. but not, it's not from vibe coding.

What a great initiative. I wish we could see more affordable and sustainable housing, translated in small units, all over Europe. The aspirational idea of owning a big house should be made redundant. What we need intelligent use of space and good design.

Amazon just killed my old Kindle by creating an artificial obsolescence. So now I am trying to retain ownership of the books I bought Calibre and then convert to EPUB and upload to Kobo via USB. I cannot express how much I loathe Amazon and its rapacious / walled practices.

This is such a great little tool. One of my gripes with Bluesky is the long thread experience. With skywriter.blue you just paste the thread url and it becomes a one page read.
